FINALLY A GOOD START!

Okay – so for once my morning didn’t start out with me peeling out of the driveway annoyed by the weather. LOL This heat makes me insane. I’m seriously not pleasant to be around. Yesterday I went home and my room was hotter than outside. I took a shower and by the time I got dressed I was drenched.

I told my dad I was leaving and would be back when it finally cooled down. I went to Sandra and Sylvia’s. Cuz Jahida has MS, she can’t be exposed to heat. It makes her condition worse. So their apartment is an icebox. I hung out there for a few hours and then later visited with Alonzo at his uncle’s house.

I knew he wanted to go in the pool so I went prepared with a bathing suit. And *drumroll please* I finally invested in a two-piece. Even though I still felt weird and jiggly in it, I wore it. I think it helped that it was already getting dark out. LOL

Today we’re going to P.F. Changs. Mmmm…I haven’t been there in a long time, so I’m looking forward to it. I’ll be getting ready at his uncle’s house cuz I know there’s no way in hell I can get ready at home without leaving lookin like I just slathered my hair in Jheri curl juice.

Oh – that reminds me. I got my hair cut yesterday. I took my cousin Marina to get hers cut too. The girl did a good job layering on both of us, but I’ll be DAMNED if she didn’t chop off a ton of length. Marina’s hair used to be to her butt, now it’s about halfway up her back. I had hair below my chest and now it’s above the chest. If you know my chest, you know that’s quite a ways! LOL

It wasn’t my usual girl…we went to this little joint on Meadowview that my friend Lil had been raving about. I liked how they did her hair and her cousin Esmer’s, so I figured I’d give it a shot. The fact that it only cost us $12 was a definite perk!

This weekend I have my second testing with the Sac PD boot camp. I’m hella nervous for some reason. What if I do worse?? To be completely honest, I’m getting burnt out with the boot camp altogether. It’s sad, but I’d rather hang out with Alonzo and not do anything. If Lilia doesn’t motivate me tonight when I call her, I’m giving up. Who needs a trip to Brazil? *sobbing*

As for my other job at the clinic, things are getting exciting. Especially next Tuesday. My attorney is going to represent one of our client’s family in their adjustment interview that day and she’s invited me to observe. Why? So that way I can get a feel for what it takes so I can eventually represent clients on her behalf. :-D

So I’ll be spending that morning at the federal courthouse here in Sac. In a few weeks I may join her at an asylum (NACARA) hearing at the federal office in San Francisco. She also wants me to go with her to local AILA meetings (basically immigration attorney/immig officer forums). Seeing as how I’m going into my last year, I know that it’s time to put in overtime on the networking.

Today I got rock star parking at the 23rd St. station in the SHADE and I made it in to work on time. I let my hair air dry this morning too (it flew around and around while I sped to work with the windows down) :-) and it’s extra, extra soft. I keep running my hands through it like a damn Pantene commercial.
